In 2017 one of our team members, Joshua Van Genderen took his own life – he was 22. Josh has never been far from our thoughts since learning of his passing with our team actively ensuring that we do everything possible to aid any team member that is struggling with their mental health. When we attended Josh’s funeral, we were struck with such a sense of tragedy for his family and greater network that such a brilliant young man was left feeling like he had no other option. Whilst we understand we are only one part of the broader picture, we hope that we can help our team where possible which was why we felt it was important to seek out an organisation that we could partner with to help our team when needed.
Recently we heard about a charity working towards making mental health more accessible and affordable. Not only are they helping young men and women with their mental health, they are making it a conversation starter to ensure that we all talk about it and understand how to help each other. Being a local Queensland based organisation like us, TIACS is really seeking to make a difference in people’s lives. Partnering with TIACS is important for our organisation, we want all our team members, casual or permanent to feel that we support them. We are proud to support an organisation that is locally based and doing such great work in getting the conversation started regarding mental health.
